Sister Trip Shenigans 2021

It’s already been 6 months since I added full-time caregiver to my stack of hats.
One of things that others have told me is, “make sure you take care of yourself.” Of all the things I’ve been encouraged to do in this new role, that’s been the most difficult to hear and do.
I’m not very good at it. But, I saw an opportunity and booked a cabin for 3 days and invited the women in my family. Knowing that I might just need to sit and stare at the trees, I left the invitation completely open, with no expectations, no plan other than time and place, and no agenda.
Three sisters and one niece came. We had a lovely time.

Friday night, we realized we all had Darn Tough socks. And a good amount of silliness ensued.

We felt like grilling our sandwiches after we had started eating. You can do that on a sister trip.

We were only going for a short walk, so we didn’t take water. A couple of us got way off track, and must have looked pitiful enough on the return to the cabin, that we were offered rides by strangers. But, we made it.

We had conversations that were silly and serious, while a lovestruck Rose Breasted Grosbeak provided music the entire weekend, dawn to dusk.

It was the most relaxing camping trip I’ve ever been on. I’ve already begun looking for a date next year to do it again.
